Awareness Through Mosque Tour (ATMT) is an outreach program specialized by Discover Islam, Bahrain. People of other faiths are invited inside the mosque and given a properly designed guided tour.  Giving such a tour of the mosque to these visitors provides us with an excellent opportunity for  meaningful interaction with them. It helps a great deal to remove many misconceptions from their minds about Islamic faith and culture, and thereby to build bridges of understanding and goodwill.

In order to conduct ATMT program in a mosque, it is necessary that the persons conducting the tour receive proper training as mosque tour guides. Based on our experience for the past 15 years in Bahrain and abroad, we have developed structured training course on this new dawah tool, which includes both theory and practicals. Since 2008, it has been conducted regularly at several places in Malaysia and Singapore and has been introduced in other places such as,Oman, Sri Lanka, and Turkey. We are pleased to offer this training course free of charge.

The objective of the course is to provide the trainees with the essential knowledge and techniques needed to conduct a purposeful guided tour of the mosque. After the training, the participants would be in a position to effectively communicate with the visitors, subtly introduce Islamic concepts, answer their questions, and correct their misunderstandings. The training would facilitate winning the hearts and opening the minds of people of other faiths.

In the Shoes of Tourist

This immersive session takes the audience through the journey undertaken by a tourist in a mosque, and understand their experiences as they walk through the mosque.

How to Prepare a Mosque for Visitors

A lot goes into setting up Open Days in a Mosque? How should one prepare people and logistics in time for a successful Open Day? This session outlines the requirements and the timeline.

Any Muslim, brother or sister, interested in outreach activities is welcome to attend this training program. One need not be a scholarly person. Suitable candidates are those who are:

1. Familiarity with English language (understand, speak, and read)
2. Involved in, or promote, the mosque tours, or wish to do so
3. Associated with a local mosque management
4. Willing and committed to practically apply the acquired knowledge and techniques
5. Communication skills (such as PR,NLP), marketing skills, etc., would be of added value
6. Retired people and students wouldbenefit from this training.
